Nostalgia keeps me awake

I need to go to sleep. I act as if I don’t have to wake up in the morning and help moms and their newborns get out of the hospital and head home. After volunteering, I’m meeting up with Brittany and going to Intelligensia and hopefully we’ll remember to stop at the record store too.

I’m having a mega moment of nostalgia listening to some of my favorite Chicago/Illinois bands, especially the ones who broke up (2*Sweet, Spitalfield, The Junior Varsity). I’m compiling potential songs for a cd for a friend, and when I come across one of these bands, the world stops for awhile.

So ya, I’m going to let this Spitalfield song (“Stolen From Some Great Writer”, specifically) finish, then I’m going to sleep.

Also, thank you to everyone who signed up for the Chicago Mixtape! The four of you helped me unlock the two mixtapes that I missed out on and a bonus mix. If six more people sign up, I get a free shirt, but there’s only 9 days left for me to get those six extra people (not that it would be too hard to find them). I’m content where I’m at, but a free shirt would be cool too lol. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the music :] (I ended up downloading The Canoes’ entire album)

Ciao, mundo!

The Chicago Mixtape

So basically, if at least two of you sign up for this, I can get the two mixtapes that I don’t have. But what is the Chicago Mixtape, you ask?

Well, it’s this snazzy mixtape that is sent directly to your email inbox weekly, but you can only download the mixtape for that week within a week or so. You get to hear music from local Chicago musicians, and it’s pretty great because I don’t think I’ve ever heard of any of the musicians/bands before receiving these mixtapes. I’m always looking for new music, so this definitely meets my needs of new music indulgence. Another cool thing about the Mixtape is that when they send you the email, they tell you about upcoming shows for the artists. It’s great.

Check it out if you’re interested in finding new music :]
